Military
1956-59 — Pianist for the United States Army Band and Chorus Washington, D.C.
Teaching
1959-60 — Instructor, Northern Illinois University, DeKalb
1960-65 — Instructor, then Assistant Professor with tenure (1963), Monmouth College, Monmouth, Illinois. Named "Artist-in-Residence", 1964.
Summer 1965 — Visiting Associate Professor, University of Iowa
1965-76 — Assistant Professor, then Associate Professor with tenure (1969), then full Professor (1973), University of Wyoming, Laramie.
1976-present — Assistant Professor, then Associate Professor (1977), tenure granted 1981, then Full Professor (198p), /952 University of Hawaii.
PERFORMANCE
I have given some 700+ concerts in 38 states, England, Germany, Austria, The Philippines, Japan, and the Peoples Republic of China including solo recitals, duo recitals, both duet and 2 piano, appearances as soloist with orchestra, as a member of three trios, and as professional accompanist. Some of the many artists I have given concerts with are: violinists Charles Treger, Eugene Fodor, Pinchas Zukerman and Toshiya Eto; cellists Daniel Domb, Roger Drinkall, and Joel Krosnick; violist William Precil; oboist Wayne Rapier; sopranos Irene Jordan, Evelyn Mandac, Betty Allen and Louise Russell; contralto Birgit Finnila; tenors George Shirley, Vahan Khanzadian, Ray de Voll and Nicholas Di Virgilio and basses Thomas Paul and Ara Berberian.
In 1983 I was invited by the government of the Peoples Republic of China to give a tour of China. I gave recitals and taught in Beijing, Xian, Chengdu, Wuhan, Nanjing and Shanghai.
In 1981 I was invited to perform at the Hiroshima International Festival, Japan. Since then I have made two other tours of Japan performing in Morioka, Machida (twice), Toyama, Kyoto (twice) and Tokyo (four programs).
SERVICE
I am honorary member of the Piano Instructors Association of Japan, have been President of the Honolulu Piano Teachers Association, Vice-President of the Hawaii Music Teachers Association, and Secretary of the Southwest Division of MTNA. I became a member of Pi Kappa Lamba in 1955 while attending The University of Illinois.
